A few hours after the end of the long weekend of the Hoka Maratona di Ravenna Città d’Arte 2021, it is time to take stock of an event that is back in style after a year of absence with a special version characterized by many measures aimed at guaranteeing health safety for athletes and professionals, in compliance with the protocols of the Italian Athletics Federation and the authorities in charge. More stringent rules, especially for the number of participants, which however did not prevent the event from hitting many significant records when compared to the contingent period so difficult and complicated, starting with the obligation of the Green pass for all participants in each individual event.
One number above all, 10,551 which represents the share of those registered in the large container of the two days of 13 and 14 November, starting from 1,304 of the Hoka Marathon of Ravenna on 42Km, passing through the 2,360 of the Ravenna Half Marathon 21K, to finish with the 5,500 of the Martini Good Morning Ravenna 10K, to which the participants in Conad Family Run (1.107) and Frutta Bau Dogs & Run (280) on Saturday must be added. Figures far from those of the pre-pandemic period, but certainly much higher than other collective events organized in recent months.
Among the many records, also that of the Correndo Senza Frontiere, the 3Km starting from Porta Serrata and arriving in via di Roma dedicated to all people with disabilities. An event promoted by CSI Ravenna-Lugo and the La Pieve Social Cooperative, also organized thanks to the involvement of social cooperatives and sports clubs in the area. Under the slogan “sport is for everyone”, a short journey was once again arranged that brought disabled people and their carers, for a total of 92 participants, to cover about 3 km of the Marathon route in the historic center, up to to reach the finish line to experience and share the great emotions of the top runners.
To enrich a Sunday of sun and emotions, also the visit and presence at the finish line of Stefano Mei, national president of the Italian Athletics Federation, in addition to the live broadcast of the event proposed on many streaming platforms that have relaunched the signal from the maratonadiravenna web page .com. A live story from the television studio set up for the occasion near the start which saw the presence, as well as the conductor Marco Marchei, of many famous athletes, friends and partners, such as Francesco Panetta, Giovanni Ruggero, Rosaria Console, Gavino Garau and Daniele Caimmi. All without forgetting the constant presence of the municipal administration, with the mayor Michele de Pascale and the councilor for Sport and Tourism Giacomo Costantini committed to starting the races in different points of the city before also participating in the Martini Good Morning Ravenna 10K and conclude with awards and interviews.
“We will carry these last three days imprinted in our hearts and minds – says Stefano Righini, president of Ravenna Runners Club, the organizer of the Marathon – these last three days which have been a condensation of beautiful emotions. We had a response, in terms of participation, which surprised us and filled us with joy. A demonstration of the desire and desire to take back our life by paying attention to those rules that still allow us to hope to definitively defeat the covid. The bond and symbiosis between the Ravenna Marathon and its territory has been confirmed again, indeed it has been strengthened. The city has supported us and thanks to this union we have been able to highlight the advantages that such an event can bring to the whole of Ravenna such as the tourist induced and the increase in visitors, which in turn turn into greater possibilities for the points of sale, trade in general, premises and all catering activities. On the other hand, it is inevitable that we have to face small inconveniences for a few hours, we believe understandable, especially in circulation, but we think that the balance between advantages and disadvantages is clearly in favor of the former. I also want to thank again – concludes Righini on behalf of all his staff – the over 450 volunteers who have contributed significantly to the success of the event, as well as the partners, institutions, associations and friends who have always made us warn the their closeness and their support. It was a great opportunity to relaunch sport and the entire territory, an opportunity that Ravenna has fully seized “.
Now the gaze is already turned to the future, with the 23rd edition of the Hoka Marathon of Ravenna City of Art already scheduled for Sunday 13 November 2022, in the hope that in the meantime the health situation is normalized and we can aim again for the absolute records of the past.
