In March 2020, in the midst of the first wave of the pandemic, Ravenna Runners Club had launched a fundraiser in favor of the Santa Maria delle Croci Hospital in Ravenna with the slogan “Ravenna has given us so much, now it’s our turn”. An initiative that in a few months had involved over a thousand donors reaching, also through the online platform Gofundme, the figure of 17.127.00 Euro conveyed to the Ravenna hospital. All this also with the support of the A.L.I.Ce Ravenna ODV, Association for the Fight against Cerebral Stroke.
Already at the time of payment, it was announced that the donation would be used to improve the comfort and furniture equipment, for the benefit of both users and health professionals, even in the difficult moment of combating the Covid-19 emergency. Now the identified spaces have been completely and definitively furnished with all the purchased material, significantly improving the departments of the Neurophysiopathology Operating Unit and common areas of the Hospital Point and the Pain Relief Unit.
The Ravenna Runners Club initiative in favor of the entire city thus comes to an end: “It seems right to me – says Stefano Righini, president of Ravenna Runners Club – to return to thank all those who have joined the fundraising promoted by RRC and Maratona di Ravenna in collaboration with ALICe. We are happy that the funds have been used in the best way and in the way most suited to the needs of our hospital. It was an honor to be able to contribute to making the environment where doctors and nurses work incessantly every day for the good of the entire population more welcoming and functional “.
