After many weeks of uncertainty, here is the announcement that many were waiting for: Sunday 13 September 2020 the second edition of “Ravenna Park Race” will take place, the event in nature that had already been successful on the occasion of its debut in 2019 and appreciations. As already foreseen for the two events of “Run in the Sea” scheduled for August 21 and 28, respectively at the Darsena in the city of Ravenna and the breakwater of Porto Corsini, also “Ravenna Park Race” will therefore be one of the appointments symbol of safe restart.
In compliance with the current regulations against the spread of Covid-19 and in compliance with the guidelines issued by Fidal, the Italian Athletics Federation, both for road and trail running events, Ravenna Runners Club will return to propose this event in nature that it has no equal on the national territory.
The start will also this time be near the Red Star Sports Center in Casal Borsetti, in via Ortolani, from where both the competitive 21 km Trail Running and Eco Walking, the 8 km walk in nature, will be launched.
The current health situation, of course, will require strict compliance with various rules that will guarantee the safety of all participants, but the pleasure of this experience in the splendid setting of the Po Delta park will not be affected, on the contrary, better protected.
All this confirms the idea from which “Ravenna Park Race” sprang up last year: an event for everyone, from trained athletes to simple walkers, families and nature lovers. The distance of 21 km, an anomalous Trail Running, without height differences at sea level, will attract runners accustomed to this distance, who instead will simply want to enjoy a beautiful day admiring the breathtaking scenery of the Delta Park and the many incredible views of the route, will do it by registering and participating in the 8 km Eco Walking, choosing whether to face it by running or walking.
The chosen path does not fear comparisons. Runners and walkers will walk the streets of an ecosystem preserved for hundreds of years. The paths of the Pineta San Vitale among pines, poplars, holm oaks, a rich undergrowth, the large brackish lagoons connected to the sea and crossed by a network of canals on which the characteristic fishing huts stand. The Pialassa della Baiona with the bumps emerging from the waters on which plants of rare beauty grow and many species of birds live, including the famous herons. The ballast of Casal Borsetti, which will allow you to travel a section of the path overlooking the sea in September.
To comply with the regulations in force, the departures will be staggered, an element that will ensure even greater and more “intimate” contact with nature, and after the start from Casal Borsetti the trail will touch all the three north Ravenna beaches, thus including Marina Romea and Porto Corsini, until the arrival again in Casal Borsetti. Furthermore, it will not be possible to register on site on the day of the event and the same registrations will close when the maximum number of one thousand participants in the trail is reached.
