CONFIRMED RAVENNA MARATHON AND HALF MARATHON, POSTPONED TO 21 MARCH FOR THE GOOD MORNING 10K

Many people, especially in the last hours and on the occasion of the first post lockdown running events, were wondering what the future of the Ravenna Marathon City of Art was, an event that will always remain in the calendar for the next months pending checks on the epidemiological situation and protocols to be adopted.

Now it’s official: Ravenna Marathon City of Art will take place, as foreseen in the schedule of sporting events in Emilia Romagna and in the FIDAL calendar, on Sunday 8 November 2020. And on the same day, in addition to the 42.195 km distance, also the Ravenna Half Marathon on 21,0975 Km.

The 2020 edition of Good Morning Ravenna 10K will instead be postponed to March 21, and not canceled, also enriched by the third edition of Dogs & Run. In fact, to allow a more natural development of the event, which has always had the characteristics of an authentic party for the whole territory and to give the right space to the color and warmth of an event that is based on fun and the pleasure of being together with many friends, it was decided to identify a date in which to propose this event exclusively in a period in which, hopefully, with the arrival of spring the issues related to Covid-19 should be less worrying.

Two dates and two distinct events: Sunday 8 November Marathon and Half Marathon; Sunday 21 March 2021 Good Morning Ravenna 10K and Dogs & Run.

On November 8, the 42K and 21K will therefore run, as per the program drawn up in the pre-Covid era and never modified. Two competitions that will however be organized in full and more faithful compliance with the rules in force on that date against the spread of Coronavirus to have fun and play sports in safety.

Several innovations will be directly linked to the current health situation and which will be proposed following to the letter the Guidelines and Protocols drawn up in recent months for “no stadia” sporting events. Among these the number of subscribers will be limited to four thousand units with staggered departures “in waves”, timing with real time and runners spaced at the start thanks to special signs. In addition to this, there will be no changing rooms or showers and even the race bib will have a disposable chip. And again to avoid the much feared gatherings, the Expo will be proposed in a more streamlined way, as will the awards ceremony at the end of the race.

The final decision was made in the last few hours by Ravenna Runners Club, the organizer of the event, in agreement and in constant contact with the Municipality of Ravenna, the Emilia-Romagna Region and all the competent authorities.

Further details will be communicated in the next few hours, always with one goal: to restart safely also with regard to major international events.
